This morning had the great pleasure of again viewing Wong Kar-Wai's quiet and visually creative exploration of infidelity and rejection, In the Mood for Love. Starring Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung, this film is startling in the stillness of its lovelorn main characters. Both appear to be the victims of betraying spouses and find comfort and solidarity in an easy, undemanding and accidental friendship. A nice view of early 1960's Hong Kong and a reference to 2046 as well. Catch it when you can.

Have you been to Sunstar video in the city yet? Lots of Asian videos, although it's always best to check the Korean place in the Village arcade first as they're cheaper and have a permanent 20% off sale! I can even recognise the Chinese characters now for "English subtitles".
I never really "got" Tony Leung until this film. It 1/2 converted me and when I saw his talking to the soap scene in Chung King Express I became a complete fangirl.
I loved Chris Doyles camerawork in ITMFL. He did a great job with Last Life In The Universe as well.
I am consistently awestruck by the beauty of the imagery in this movie. Every little action is so poetic. A brilliant film.
Saw this film a few years ago & was entranced with it. Superb photography
infused with a sad melancholy. Must watch it again some time.
